Can Santa Really Get Around The World In One Night?
Every Christmas Eve, millions of people head to sleep waiting for one thing: Santa to come to our homes and deliver our festive gifts. It’s a magical time of the year that sees plenty of us believe in magic that seems impossible. Still, that hasn’t stopped people from wondering the same thing: can Santa really get around the world in one night?
After all, the planet is a pretty big place, and plenty of us have learned how long it takes to get from one place to another. How is someone meant to do that and stop off at every house along the way? Christmas magic might have some explaining to do.
Santa would need to travel at 1,367 miles per second
Of course, the one thing that many people wonder is how Santa can get around the world so fast, let alone do everything he does in between. When it boils down to it, the guy in red would need just a few milliseconds in each house to be able to do what he does every Christmas Eve. It also means Santa would need to be traveling at 1,367 miles per second just to make it to every house and back to the North Pole. While it might seem extraordinarily fast compared to your average sleigh ride, it’s still under 1% the speed of light, So with the right fuel and some well-trained reindeer, there’s no reason Santa couldn’t get the job done.
An open sleigh might not be the best transport
Moving so fast isn’t just about getting around the world in one night. It also means that Santa would have to deal with all the heat and acceleration that’s generated. Santa would have to expel a tremendous amount of heat without any protection, but that doesn’t mean he’s left entirely to his own devices. Perhaps Santa has some kind of heat shield that protects the sleigh and his reindeer instead of the open sleigh that we’re so used to seeing? On the other hand, there’s every chance that the sleigh is simply so aerodynamically designed that it creates a smooth breeze instead of dangerous heat.

How does Santa leave no trace he’s visited?
Plenty of us have tried to stay up all night just to get a glimpse of Santa, but if there is one thing we’ve learned, it’s that we won’t get our gifts if we don’t go to sleep. Still, he often comes and goes without leaving a single trace. One answer as to how he pulls this off could be down to the idea of quantum tunneling, which means that instead of bouncing off a barrier, we simply move through it to the other side. If Santa has learned how to perfect this idea, there’s every chance he could simply bring in all the gifts he needs and move into any house along the way without ever leaving a trace.
Santa might have secret ways to deliver gifts
Okay, so he can get around the world and get in and out of our houses, but how does Santa leave all the right gifts under the tree, let alone get them in and out of the house? That’s simple; a little bit of Christmas magic. All Santa needs to do to get everyone everything they need for the festive period is to get into the house and simply let go of the gifts. From there, magic kicks in and ensures everything is as it should be for the morning.

It takes a lot of fuel to get around the world in one night
Many children love nothing more than leaving out some milk and cookies for the big guy before heading to bed, and this could be all Santa needs to keep moving around the world so quickly. After all, all that work takes a lot of energy. The sleigh gets lighter the further Santa travels as he drops off gifts to everyone along the way. Still, having a snack at every house means he also has the energy he needs to make it around the rest of the planet before the sun rises the following day.
Can Santa really get around the world in one night? Of course he can! After all, he’s been doing it for generations to ensure everyone wakes up to everything they can imagine for Christmas morning.
